PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

I feel deeply honored to take over the reins of such an august body as the Indian Rheumatology Association.  Indeed, I deem it a proud privilege to have been elected as the President of the IRA.

            The IRA has, over the years, grown from its modest beginnings to its pre eminent position today, not only in India but the entire world.  In fact, its growth and development have kept pace with the advancements made in the field of Rheumatology.  Like the other branches of Medicine, Rheumatology too has undergone sea changes over the past few decades and is a vibrant specialty today.  This increase in its stature is justly reflected in the progress made by IRA in the professional realm.    The evidence based, multi modal and holistic approach followed by the Rheumatologists in the pursuit of their specialty have paid rich dividends.

            Consequently, I would like to take this opportunity to appeal to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of India to direct all medical colleges in the country to appoint a Rheumatologist so as to impart teaching of the subject in all the Under Graduate as well as Post Graduate medical courses.

            All this juncture, I would also like to express my heart fell gratitude and regards to all my persons, colleagues and friends who had supported me all through this time, to reach this coveted appointment.  I also look forward to your keen and unstinted support in all our future endeavors aimed at the further evolution and development of the IRA as well as the field of Rheumatology in the country.
