REPRODUCTIVE RHEUMATOLOGY SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP, INDIA
The need
Patients with rheumatological conditions have special requirements regarding planning a pregnancy and managing their disease. Whereas different diseases have different specific considerations during pregnancy, safety of the drugs use during the three phases (pre – conception, during pregnancy and post partum including lactation) also requires careful consideration. The lack of adequate data and guidelines specific to the Indian scenario are lacunae which need to be addressed in a systematic and concerted manner.
Objectives
The objectives of Reproductive Rheumatology Special Interest Group,India are;
To organise research, create specific registries, and conduct studies in reproductive rheumatology.
To build evidence for developing guidelines specific to our country in reproductive rheumatology.
To spread awareness in the medical community regarding proper management of reproductive issues in a women or their male partners with rheumatological conditions.
To facilitate coordination between various specialities to ensure optimum management of pregnancy to achieve satisfactory outcomes.
To foster international collaboration in this area.
