HOW TO BECOME A LIFE MEMBER
Members of the Medical Profession holding a post-graduate medical qualification in Medicine or Pediatrics will be eligible for enrolment as Life Members of the Association. The person should have attended at least 2 CMEs/conferences related to Rheumatology.Intending members have to subscribe in writing to the objectives of the Association and submit an Application for Membership duly proposed by a existing Member of IRA.
Membership Criteria for life membership
a)Members of the Medical Profession holding a post-graduate medical qualification in Medicine or Pediatrics will be eligible for enrolment as Life Members of the Association.
b)The person should have 2 years of work experience in a rheumatology department or have DM/DNB in Rheumatology or Clinical Immunology.
c)The person should have attended at least 2 CMEs/Conferences related to Rheumatology (if not enrolled for DM/DNB).
d)Intending members have to subscribe in writing to the objectives of the Association and submit an Application for Membership duly proposed by an existing Senior Member of IRA. Proposing members should be of good standing and member of IRA for at least 5 years.
Overseas Professionals with post-graduate qualifications may be enrolled as Overseas Life Members. Overseas Members will not be eligible to vote or serve on the Executive Committee, but would enjoy the other privileges of Membership of IRA.
Leading personalities in India or abroad in the field of Rheumatology and allied disciplines, may be accepted as HonoraryMembers. Such Honorary members shall be elected by the General Body of the Association by a two-third majority. Honorary Members shall not be eligible to vote or serve on the Executive Committee but would enjoy the other privileges of Membership of IRA.
Pharmaceutical companies and Companies doing business or taking interest in pharmaceutical and allied industries shall be eligible to be elected as Corporate Members of the Association. The duration of Membership shall be for such period as the existence of the company or the Association. No representative of the Company will be eligible to serve on the Executive Committee or have any voting rights, but otherwise they would enjoy the other privileges of the Association.

3. Membership should be proposed by an active life member of IRA of 5 years duration.
4. Incorrect/Incomplete forms shall delay processing.
5. Candidate must fulfill the following both criteria (a and b) for eligibility:
a. Basic criteria: Members of the Medical Profession holding a post-graduate medical qualification in Medicine or Pediatrics (or equivalent such as CMT-UK or Fellowship in Internal Medicine-USA).
b. Specialty training/ experience:
- DM/DNB in Rheumatology and clinical immunology OR
- DM/DNB in Pediatric Rheumatology and clinical immunology OR
- CCT-Rheumatology (UK), American Board-Rheumatology (AB-USA) OR
- CCT-Pediatric Rheumatology (UK), American Board-Pediatric Rheumatology (AB-USA) OR
- Third year trainees in DM/DNB in Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology OR
- Third year trainees in DM/DNB in Pediatric Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology OR
- Completed 2 years of experience in Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology or Pediatric Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology - candidate must enclose proof of this experience from the head of the institution and also furnish attendance certificate of at least 2 CMEs/Conferences related to Rheumatology and publications in this area if any.
6. Candidate will be notified/informed after approval from Membership Committee. Membership
Committee meets 3 times in a year during Executive Committee meeting.
7. If your application is unsuccessful, membership fee will be returned after deducting Rs. 500/- as administrative charges.
