IRA
oration

This oration is in recognition of one's contribution to the field of Rheumatology in India. It includes a medal and a certificate. The applicant should be a continuous life-member of IRA for 10 years. The application should be accompanied with a curriculum vitae and a one-page essay on the applicant's contribution to rheumatology.

IRA young rheumatologist oration

This oration is in recognition of one's scientific contribution to the field of Rheumatology. It includes a medal and a certificate. The applicant should be a continuous life-member of IRA for 5 years and should be below 40 years of age (i.e. candidates before their 41st birthdays may apply). The application should be accompanied with a curriculum vitae and reprints of the candidate's 5 best publications.

Kolkon Oration for community service

Instituted by West Bengal chapter of IRA. It includes a medal and a certificate. It is in recognition of one's overall contribution to propagating rheumatology by way of public lectures, publishing articles related to patient education and awareness programs, conducting CME programs, enrolment of members etc. The prospective candidate must be a continuous life-member of IRA for 10 years. A curriculum vitae and a one-page essay should accompany application on the applicant's contribution to rheumatology.

Dr M N Passey award for distinguished services

Instituted by the Delhi Rheumatology Association in memory of its former President. Padma Shri Late Dr. M.N. Passey. This award is bestowed on the senior (Emeritus) members of IRA for their contribution to Rheumatology in India. It carries an Award Certificate, Medal and Rs. 15,000/- and waiver for registration for IRACON. There is no formal application for this award. Members of the IRA may nominate eminent persons for this award. This award shall be presented during the Inaugural Ceremony of IRACON.

IRA Masters award

The IRA Masters Award, in line with the ACR and or APLAR Masters award, will be an yearly award to a senior rheumatologist > 60 years of age who is a life member of the IRA and someone who has had significant contribution to the field of rheumatology through academic achievement and/or service to their patients, students, and profession. This award shall be presented during the Valedictory Ceremony of IRACON. MN Passey awardees (being the highest award of IRA) would not be eligible for nomination as IRA Master. However, Masters of IRA can be nominated for MN Passey Award. Procedure: Nomination must be supported by at least 2 senior IRA Members with more than 10 years of continuous life-membership.

IRA Travel Bursaries

The IRA provides 20 Travel Bursaries of Rs. 5000/- each to its young members to attend the Annual Conference-IRACON. Bursaries are available only to those IRA members who present a paper at IRACON. Age limit is 40 years. The bursary may be used for registration fee, travel or maintenance. Applications should be accompanied by the following enclosures: copy of letter of acceptance of abstract, a copy of the abstract itself and date of birth certificate. The decision of the Credentials Committee shall be final. Bursaries may be collected on-site from IRA stall after submission of Participation Certificate.
